At Teddington School we are pleased to be able to offer students the opportunity to participate in the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a real adventure for young people and allows them to broaden their horizons and face new challenges.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is made up of 4 different sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. The Bronze Award will take a minimum of 6 months to complete, and the Silver Award a minimum of 12. The award enables students to show a real commitment and sense of community as they get involved with their different activities, and they will grow in responsibility as they take ownership of their award.

Friday 1st - Sunday 3th September 2023 - Y11 silver practice expedition
Friday 3rd - Monday 6th November 2023 - Y11 silver qualifying expedition
Saturday 24th February 2024 - Y9 bronze training day
Friday 17th - Sunday 19th May 2024 - Y9 bronze training and qualifying expedition
Friday 24th May - Sunday 26th May 2024 - Y10 silver practice expedition
Friday 14th June - Monday 17th June 2024 - Y10 silver qualifying expedition
Bronze Expedition Trip 2023
At the beginning of June, 73 students successfully completed the expedition element of their bronze award. The students took part in various training exercises, including camp craft, map reading, route planning and emergency procedures. We had fantastic sunshine throughout the trip, which was made even better by a surprise trip from an ice cream van on the training day! They worked together in their teams to independently travel to the second campsite, while being remotely assessed by the expert instructors. All 11 teams made it back to camp in time to give their presentations before heading home for a well-deserved rest!
