Careers Exploration

It is important to set aside time to think about your future and what career path you are drawn to. You can do this in a variety of ways, but there are two main things to think about:

1. What do I like doing? How do I like to spend my free time? Do I have hobbies and interests that I want to take further?
2. What am I good at? Which subjects at school do I excel in? What are my main strengths?

Teddington School subscribes to BeReady which is careers guidance software that can be used by all Teddington students. Students will be able to complete assigned work across a range of subjects. This helps students’ gauges interests, attitudes, and motivations. They are then offered career and education suggestions, personalised to them.

Provides impartial information, advice, and guidance to help you make decisions on learning, training, and work.

Qualified careers advisers can be contacted by phone, webchat, and email. They will call you back if you submit your telephone number through an online form.

Face-to-face appointments at a local National Careers Service office, can also be arranged over the telephone.

First Careers offers guidance to primary and secondary school students in making decisions about future careers and professions.

Explore a bank of over a thousand video stories with advice and insights into a wide range of careers. Take the buzz quiz to find out which animal you are like and what job you could do. Keep track of your answers and help guide your career preferences.

TARGET careers help young people to make smart decisions about their future. Investigate careers that interest you and decide whether to do an apprenticeship or go to university, then get applying.

They have a full list of UK undergraduate courses and advice on choosing between them, or you can search for apprenticeships with some of the country’s biggest employers.

Create a personal profile to search for jobs and courses. This website connects to live labour market information and course data. Register by creating a username and password. The first time you log in, you will need to enter the following:
