At Teddington School, one of our core strategic goals is to become a leaders in the enhanced education experience. We believe that all our students deserve an excellent education that prepares them for an increasingly digitalised future.

The Department for Education is championing a digital revolution in schools, with Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson outlining plans to “embrace this great new technological era to modernise our education system, support our teachers, and deliver for our students.” 

It is clear from research that innovation has significantly improved learning experiences for students, and we want to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to access technology that fosters creativity, independence, and success, both in school and at home.  

AiEd Certified Explorer School

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded AiEd Certified Explorer Status, making us the first secondary school in the UK to achieve this important recognition.

This award celebrates our commitment to the safe, ethical and purposeful use of artificial intelligence across our whole-school community, ensuring that innovation always supports high quality learning and strong pastoral care. As an Explorer School, we are recognised for:

• Preparing students and staff for an AI powered future through thoughtful, practical integration of new tools.
• Taking a responsible, structured approach that prioritises safety, integrity and wellbeing.
• Leading the way in our sector, contributing to emerging best practice in how schools adopt and model the use of AI.

Holding Explorer status reflects our belief that AI should enhance, not replace, great teaching, curiosity, creativity and human connection. It also signals our willingness to move early, learn boldly, and innovate responsibly, always with our students’ futures at the heart of every decision we make.

This achievement is an exciting milestone for our community, and we look forward to continuing to develop approaches that place Teddington School at the forefront of purposeful educational innovation.

Microsoft Teams

As part of our commitment to equip students for a digitalised world, we use Microsoft Teams to provide a seamless connection between school and home. Teams allows students to easily access lesson materials, submit assignments, and communicate with teachers, ensuring they stay engaged with their studies. Each subject, and often each class, has its own dedicated Team with bespoke channels, allowing students to quickly find subject-specific resources and assignments. With secure file storage, students can access materials whenever needed. We are committed to accessibility for all, ensuring every student can stay on track with their learning and receive support at any time.

iPads

Following the successful introduction of iPads in Years 7 and 12 in September 2025, we are pleased to be expanding our iPad programme further, with continued support of our colleagues at Bourne Education Trust.

From September 2026, iPads will also be provided to students in the new Years 7, 9 and 12. This means that students across Years 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13 will have access to their own school-managed iPad to support their learning.

Our iPad programme is designed to enhance teaching and learning by giving students consistent access to high-quality digital resources and a range of educational tools. Used purposefully in the classroom, technology can support more personalised learning, encourage creativity and independence, and ensure that all students have reliable access to the digital resources they need.

Each iPad is configured with the apps and tools required for learning. Teachers will continue to guide students in using their devices effectively and appropriately, integrating iPads into lessons where they can enhance learning, while continuing to use the most effective teaching approaches for the subject and task.

We are delighted to be extending the programme to more students in September 2026 and look forward to continuing to develop the purposeful and effective use of technology across the school. We greatly appreciate the support of our parents and carers in helping us to make the programme a success.
