SEND

At Teddington School, we are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment where every student is valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential. We recognise that students learn in different ways and may require varying levels of support to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. 

High-quality teaching, effective differentiation and inclusive classroom practice are at the heart of our approach. Teachers adapt learning activities, resources and teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, while reasonable adjustments are made where necessary to ensure equitable access to education and wider school experiences. 

A student is considered to have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) if they have a learning difficulty or disability that requires special educational provision to be made for them. This means they may need support that is additional to, or different from, that provided for most students of the same age. 

Students may have SEND for a variety of reasons, including difficulties with cognition and learning, communication and interaction, social, emotional and mental health needs, or sensory and/or physical needs. Some students may have a diagnosed medical condition or disability, while others may require support without having a formal diagnosis. 

At Teddington School, we work closely with students, families, staff and external professionals to identify needs early, provide appropriate support and ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed, both academically and personally.
