Immersive Learning Space
Since September 2025, our Immersive Learning Space has provided students with an exciting and innovative way to experience learning. The space enables teachers to bring subjects to life, giving students opportunities to explore environments, concepts and scenarios that would otherwise be difficult—or impossible—to experience within the classroom.
What is an Immersive Learning Space?
Our Immersive Learning Space uses advanced projection and audio technology to create engaging, multi-sensory environments. Images, video and sound can transform the space, allowing students to step inside different locations, historical periods and real-world scenarios.
Rather than simply reading about or viewing something on a screen, students can experience content at scale and from within the environment, helping them to visualise concepts, make connections and engage with learning in a different way.
Why have we introduced this?
The Immersive Learning Space forms part of our wider commitment to using technology purposefully to enhance teaching and learning.
Following a visit to NESCOT College in Epsom, where we saw the potential of immersive technology first-hand, we identified an opportunity to create a similar environment for our own students. Since opening the space in September 2025, we have continued to develop how it can be used across different subjects and areas of the curriculum.
Importantly, the technology is not an end in itself. The space is used where it can add genuine value to learning—helping teachers explain, demonstrate or recreate experiences in ways that would not be possible in a traditional classroom.
What are the benefits?
The Immersive Learning Space can:

help students visualise and understand complex or unfamiliar concepts;

provide opportunities to explore places and environments beyond the classroom;

simulate real-world situations in a safe and controlled setting;

provide different ways for students to access and experience learning; and

support practical and vocational learning through realistic scenarios.
What does it look like in practice?
Students might step into ancient Rome as part of a History lesson, explore a rainforest in Geography, journey through the human heart in Science, or experience the sights and sounds of Shakespearean England.
The space can also recreate real-world environments such as building sites, healthcare settings and workplaces, providing valuable opportunities for students following alternative and vocational curriculum pathways.
Our Immersive Learning Space is one part of our approach to creating ambitious, engaging and memorable learning experiences. As we move into its second year, we are continuing to explore how it can be used most effectively across the curriculum to enrich students' learning.
