Teddington School is fortunate to occupy a state-of-the-art building overlooking the River Thames between Teddington and Kingston. Built in 2010, we offer some of the finest facilities in the Borough.
The school buildings and grounds are available for hire for educational, charity and sporting events as well as filming. There is ample parking both on site and adjacent to the school. For lettings enquiries please email the Premises Manager or call 020 8943 0033.
The main school building provides the environment that supports our values of working hard with each other to achieve success. The space is full of transparency and light. Learning can be seen in action across the school and access between the departments and floors is simple and quick.
In addition to classroom accommodation, each curriculum area has access to learning ‘break out’ spaces, impressive ICT provision and flexible spaces to suit the learning requirements of the lesson. Practical learning areas such as Design and Technology, PE, Performing Arts and Media Studies all provide high quality teaching spaces offering students the opportunity to enjoy their learning to the full in an environment that enables them to practise the skills of each discipline effectively.
The theatre, with tiered seating and integrated sound and lighting systems provides the perfect space for assemblies, school productions and other events. It is a space where the school can come together and share in learning, celebrate achievement and enjoy opportunities for performances.
The library is based on the ground floor in the heart of our building. It is open plan and reflects how learning and aspiration are at the centre of everything we do at the school.
A fully sized sports hall has been built on the first floor of the school. This has a Gransprung resin flooring system and has been built to accommodate a wide range of sports including badminton, basketball, wheelchair basketball, trampolining and volleyball. There are also cricket nets for cricket practice, height adjustable practice hoops on the sides of the gym and electrically controlled drop-down basketball hoops at each end of the sports hall, as well as an electronic scoreboard. The room is underfloor heated and has 3 passivent exhaust louvres on the façade to maintain air quality. It has a viewing gallery at second floor level and has also been designed for use as an examination facility.
Multi-Use Games Area - MUGA
The multi-use games area has been designed to blend in with the natural surroundings of the Broom Road recreation ground. It has a perforated underground drainage system with permeable sub-base and green post-painted permeable tarmacadam surface to maximise surface drainage and skid resistance. It has sockets for tennis nets and can also be used for netball, basketball and five-a-side football. It has been designed in accordance with Sport England guidelines.
Two full size sports pitches provide excellent training and playing facilities for both the school and outside clubs. Both benefit from new floodlights which have been carefully designed to be as low as possible to avoid light spillage, but tall enough to achieve uniform light levels on the pitch to enable county level hockey to be played. The new sports pitch has been carefully designed to cater for a variety of sports, it has perforated underground drainage and a porous stone sub-base to ensure maximum drainage properties. Once again Sport England guidelines have been followed in the preparation and build of the new sports pitch.
Two flexible activity studios have been built in the ground floor of the school. These have a moving dividing partition to enable flexible use of the spaces. They are air conditioned, with passivent actuated exhaust louvres built into the façade and a low temperature hot water underground heating system. The floor is a sprung Junckers engineered wood flooring system, suitable for dance and other dynamic activities. There is a ballet barre and full height mirror on one side of one of the activity spaces.
