At Teddington School, literacy and numeracy are hugely important. Effective literacy and numeracy skills allow access to the wider curriculum and support students learning.
Literacy skills allow children to explore the ways in which language works so that they can use this knowledge in a variety of situations. Literacy skills include, writing, reading, communicating, listening and understanding.
We use numeracy in every aspect of our lives at work and in practical everyday activities at home and beyond. We use numeracy when we go shopping or plan a holiday, decide on a mortgage or decorate a room. Good numeracy is essential in helping students learn and supports them in making informed choices.
