Geography

“The study of geography is about more than just memorising places on a map. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it’s about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together.” - Barack Obama

The geography curriculum stimulates an interest in and a sense of wonder about places. It helps our students to make sense of a complex and dynamically changing world. It explains where places are, how places and landscapes are formed, how people and their environment interact, and how a diverse range of economies, societies and environments are interconnected.

Our curriculum is sequenced in a logical structure to ensure that students are constantly building on their prior learning and personal experiences. As they revisit each topic their depth of understanding, range of skills and ability to apply their knowledge in a new context or setting develops. Our aim is to engage students, make them critical thinkers who question the world around them and equip them with the skills to be active, responsible citizens.
