Computing

“Everyone should learn how to code, it teaches you how to think” - Steve Jobs

Computing prepares pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world in which work and other activities are increasingly transformed by access to varied and developing technology.

We cover the three strands within computing: digital literacy, computer science and information technology. Students need to use IT tools to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information responsibly and creatively. They will learn how to employ IT to enable rapid access to ideas and experiences from a wide range of people, communities and cultures.

Increased capability in “computational thinking” promotes initiative and independent learning, with pupils being able to make informed judgements about when and where to use technology to best effect, and to consider its implications for home and work both now and in the future. Students learn how to be digitally literate, using tools in a safe and responsible manner.
